ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES IN THE BECKENHAM CONSTITUENCY

As a resident of the Beckenham constituency you are represented by four ‘levels’ of elected representatives  – the MP, Councillors, the London Assembly Member & London Mayor and Members of the European Parliament. Listed below is a summary of their main responsibilities which will guide you on who you should contact in different circumstances.

Note that there are ‘overlaps’ in some areas. For example the Council administers Housing and Council Tax Benefit on behalf of the government – so for complaints involving the processing of your claim you should contact a Councillor. However if the problem concerns national government policy then you should contact the MP.  Your elected representatives may therefore forward your case to the most appropriate political representative for your particular problem.

Member of Parliament, Bob Stewart MP. Responsible for nationally delivered government services and policy including:

HMRC; NHS; welfare benefits including ESA, JSA and the State pension; the CSA; CRB; immigration; defence and armed services, and of course all areas of national government policy including the economy and budget.

Please see Bob’s MP page for more information, including his contact details and link to his website.

Bromley Councillors. Responsible for locally delivered services and policy including:

Local planning decisions and local strategic planning policy including town centre redevelopment; licensing; traffic and parking (except TfL roads); waste collection; graffiti removal; snow clearance; school admissions; Special Educational Needs; adult and children’s social care; adult education; Setting Council Tax; Council Tax and Housing Benefit processing; trading standards and environmental health; Blue Badges; travel passes; leisure - including libraries, parks and commons and sports facilities; the social housing register; anti-social behaviour; and public health.

There are 17 councillors in the Beckenham constituency – input your postcode in the Who’s Who box on the right hand side of this page and this will direct you to the councillors for your ward. See also the ward and councillor pages.

The link Councillor contact details will take you to your councillors' contact details on the Bromley Council website.

London Assembly Member, James Cleverly AM. Responsible for pan-London services and policy, including:

Metropolitan Police; Transport for London (TfL) i.e. London public transport (except over ground trains); traffic and parking in TfL roads (in Bromley borough the A21 & A232); taxi and mini cab licensing; The London Ambulance and Fire Services; pan-London strategic planning and urban renewal.

Please see the London Authority page for information, and contact details and links to London government.

Members of the European Parliament. Responsible for European policy and legislation.
