ELECTED
REPRESENTATIVES IN THE BECKENHAM CONSTITUENCY
As a resident of the Beckenham
constituency you are represented by four ‘levels’ of elected
representatives – the MP, Councillors,
the London Assembly Member & London Mayor and Members of the European
Parliament. Listed below is a summary of their main responsibilities which will
guide you on who you should contact in different circumstances.
Note that there are ‘overlaps’ in
some areas. For example the Council administers Housing and Council Tax Benefit
on behalf of the government – so for complaints involving the processing of your claim you should
contact a Councillor. However if the problem concerns national government policy then you should contact the MP. Your elected representatives may therefore
forward your case to the most appropriate political representative for your
particular problem.
