Cllr Sunil Gupta

Councillor for Bromley Common & Holwood
  • Councillors

Sunil was born in New Delhi, India to a school teacher father and homemaker mother. Sunil, unfortunately, lost his father when he was only 16. Sunil attributes his development as a person of high values and academic achievements to the teachings and inspiration he received from his late father.

Sunil worked and lived in Singapore and Sydney before moving to the UK in 2004. He has been living in Bromley (Bromley common ward) for the last 15 years.

Sunil, by profession, is a Consultant Haematologist (blood disorder specialist). He is the clinical and lab director of the department of Haematology and Cancer at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS trust. He is also the lead for clinical trials for the development of new drugs in blood cancer. Sunil's heart lies in the community work. He, in 2012, initiated (with the help of his friends), the formation of a community association comprised of people of Indian origin living in the borough of Bromley. The main aim of this organization is to contribute towards the British economy- culturally and financially.

Sunil is a sports enthusiast. He is a trained and certified yoga instructor. He has been running a yoga centre (Healthy Living Yogashram) at Turpington Lane, Bromley, for the past 7 years. He teaches yoga, meditation and breathing techniques every Sunday for 2 hours, entirely for free. Sunil was awarded “The Glory of India “ by an Indian organization for his work in the field of medicine and community work. He was recently awarded “The International Voluntary Humanitarian and Environmental Services (IVHES)” award by an African organization based in the UK. The MP of Orpington awarded Sunil with “The Local Covid Hero” for his community work during the pandemic.

Sunil is a highly committed and motivated individual who brings every project to fruition with his honest hard work. Strict punctuality, excellent time management and skillful multitasking are few of the virtues of Dr Sunil Gupta. He was elected as the Ward Councillor for Bromley Common & Holwood in May 2022.
