Peter Fortune AM

Peter Fortune has been the London Assembly Member for Bexley and Bromley Since May 2021. He was Ward Councillor for Hayes and Coney Hall ward on Bromley Council between 2014 and 2021 having represented Cray Valley from 2010 -14. Peter was Deputy Leader of Bromley Council between 2017 and 2021 and was Portfolio Holder for Children, Education and Families between 2015 and 2021.

He has been involved in the Bromley's successful ‘Friends’ organisations and has also worked in Housing, Health and Public Protection.  He is married to a Primary School teacher and has two wonderful children who are never ready for school on time.

The Conservatives have accused Labour, Liberal Democrat and Green Assembly Members of giving the Mayor of London a blank cheque on the ULEZ Extension after they voted to amend the Mayor’s Transport Strategy, paving the way for the extension, before the results of the consultation has been published. Only the Conservative Group at City Hall voted against the move.

Schools in Beckenham and Hayes have been allocated a share of £560 million Government investment, to expand classrooms, upgrade facilities and improve the education of children across the whole country. This funding will ensure schools have well-maintained facilities to provide students with safe environments that support a high-quality education.
