Former Mayor of Bromley, Hannah Gray, has been named as the Conservatives’ Parliamentary Candidate for Beckenham and Penge ahead of the forthcoming General Election.
Hannah has lived in Beckenham for nearly seventeen years, runs her own business locally and has been a Councillor for West Wickham ward since May 2014. She has twice served as Mayor of Bromley as well as the Council’s Small Business Champion. She has raised her two sons here, with both attending local state schools.
As a STEM (Science Technology and Maths) ambassador she runs her own consultancy helping young people achieve their potential, encouraging them to grasp opportunities, which in turn helps to fill the skill gaps both nationally and locally. As a steadfast believer in networking with a passion for seeing our small and medium size businesses thrive, Hannah has launched four prolific local referral networking groups, and was recently thanked for over £16million of business passing between the members.
Hannah said:
“SME’s are the back bone of both the national and local economy, and in Beckenham and Penge we must ensure that we support our local businesses.”
Hannah first served as Bromley’s Mayor during the pandemic, where she embraced the role and took the opportunity to thank and celebrate local voluntary groups within our diverse communities which makes the borough so special, and the front-line workers that supported the community. Hannah won praise from Councillors of all parties during her second term which saw the borough come together to celebrate the late Queen’s historic Platinum Jubilee, and then mark the Queen’s sad passing and coronation of King Charles III.
Speaking after her selection, Hannah said:
“I am truly honoured to have been chosen as the Conservative Candidate ahead of the General Election. I love our community, I have raised my family here, I run my business here and I have served this community. With ten years’ experience as a Councillor I am now ready to step up and represent Beckenham and Penge as your MP.
I am currently campaigning to get West Wickham and Penge police bases re-opened, which will help to reduce crime. I have a strong proven track record in our community and look forward to getting out on the doorstep, listening to local people and taking action. I would value the privilege to be the grass roots constituency MP serving our diverse community in parliament.”
